Guided Reading

In today's society, the ability to read is a critical skill all students need to learn in order to be successful throughout their lives. Guided reading experts Irene C. Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell (2017) state, "Not only is a high level of literacy the key to education and careers, but it also enriches lives, brings personal pleasure, and expands the individual's understanding of the world and its people" (p.9). Teaching students to read is a responsibility and challenge of every teacher in the profession. One of the post powerful ways to achieve this responsibility is through teaching effective guided reading lessons.
